AND IN MAY, FARAH DIBA AT THE DOCUMENTARY OF THE MONTH
Succesfully screened in the past edition of DocsBarcelona, The Queen and I gets the Documentary of the Month to introduce the story of two women with opposite political ideas and two common points: their love to a country -Iran- and a very long exile.
In The Queen and I Iranian-Swedish filmmaker Nahid Persson Sarvestani visits to her native country nearly 30 years after having participated in the Islamic Revolution to overthrow the Shah’s Monarchy regime in Iran, and decides to do a film focused on Farah Diba, the Shah’s wife. The former queen welcomes Nahid into her life but soon finds out about the filmmaker’s role in the revolution and becomes suspicious of her intentions. She stops the filming but after a few months Nahid wins the queen’s trust again. Together, the two women start an unforeseen journey that will reveal they have more in common than any of them could envision.
