SYNOPSIS
As the occidental population gets older, the average age of the members also increases at sport clubs. This is the reality of Autumn Gold, a documentary starring by 5 athletes aged between 80 and 100. They all have overcome several losses and personal crisis, have survived wars and other tragedies, and some have even won the battle against terminal diseases. Now they are united in one common goal: to take part in the World Masters Championships in Finland this summer.
On the finishing line of their lifes, they compete in a last race against time and age while jump, run and throw the discus. The players give the best of themselves in the way to win a gold medal claiming with optimism that they can still rest after death.
THE DIRECTOR
Jan Tenhaven never thought he would once make a movie about sport due to his lack of sport skills in the school competitions. Even though he later started to run and successfully survived some marathons, he was very impressed by the agility and attitude of the people that later became the main characters of his film.
He has been making documentaries for fifteen years.
Filmography
His lastest projects include Why we buy (2009) and War in me (2008). Autumn Gold is his first cinema-documentary.
